Time is flying by! 9 weeks are here and almost gone. Last week baby was a kidney bean, how we’re onto…. a grape!
How is baby growing?
Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She’s starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they’ll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months.
Other changes abound: Your baby’s heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic “tail” is completely gone. Your baby’s organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won’t be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks.
Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won’t open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby’s basic physiology is in place, she’s poised for rapid weight gain. – from babycenter
Yesterday I was looking through each week on one of my baby apps and was so surprised by how quickly the little one is going to be growing these next few weeks. I mean, if you look at last week’s kidney bean and now this week’s grape, there was a lot of growth!
How I’m feeling
This past week has been a mixed bag of feeling great (over the weekend), and feeling pretty horrible (usually at work). The nausea continues, but like I said yesterday, I’m eating more veggies!
Bagels are a thing of my life, along with oranges and orange juice. I just can’t get enough citrus! What’s great about that is oranges come packed with folic acid, an essential nutrient this lil baby needs. It’s especially important early on in pregnancy when the baby’s spine is forming.
I had an epiphany about bagels yesterday. Ready for this?
As I was thinking about the groceries I need to pick up, I figured I should start getting 2 packs of bagels each week. A pack only has 5, and there are 7 days in a week. Two days without a bagel just will not do.
Then it hit me….
I know how to make bagels! What’s even better is they only take 4 ingredients. Score! This weekend will officially be a bagel making weekend. I cannot wait to stock up my freezer with bagels. I’m kind of really obsessed right now.
Emotionally I’m pretty good. I can tell that I’ve got more hormones running through my vein and I cry much easier now. Even just stupid little things will make me cry.
It’s tough for me to do everything I used to do. A bit of my spunk is gone and has been replaced with a lazier, more tired Heather. That’s really been the toughest thing for me.
But then I have to think to myself, hey I’m growing a baby, time to cut some slack. There’s no need for added stress.
How I’m moving
My fitness has pretty much stayed the same, other than a very intense weekend of body pump training. I was pretty beat the next day and took a recovery day. All I wanted to do was sleep. I woke up before my alarm, got up, took care of some things and took a nap before getting ready for work. A 45 minute nap sure wasn’t long enough. We’ll see how today goes. I might go for an easy run if i feel up to it cause I really miss running right now.
I’m still teaching sports training and cycle each week and will add on teaching body pump in a couple weeks. I fill in the other days with whatever I feel like doing, no pressure.
Is there a little baby bump coming in?????? By the end of each day the bump looks SO much bigger, but it’s just bloat. That’s why I try to get these pictures in earlier in the day.
Yesterday I found out a friend of mine is due 5 days after me. So excited for her and her hubs! It’s going to be great having a friend going through these changes with me. Now I’ll be able to call her and say, is this happening to you to?!

Why cant i see these photos D:!!! 🙁
Positive way of thinking helps on stimulating the fetus growth inside your womb. It helps on easy dealing with the symptoms.:)
How exciting!! I didn’t even know you were pregnant. Sorry, I’m a bad blogger friend. It’s funny you mentioned the bloat at the end of the day, because I was just thinking to myself that my stomach looks pregnant quite often, due to bloat! Sometimes I think I COULD be pregnant!!
Sorry to hear the nausea continues. I hope it goes away soon. Bagels help, I’m sure 🙂 And the hormonal changes? Ugh. I can’t imagine!!
I know what you’re talking about! Even before I was pregnant I really looked pregnant at the end of the day from the bloat. It’s craziness.
You’re so cute! 🙂
