Borlotti are the heirloom beans you’ll taste in Italy in Pasta Fagioli, and are a delicious substitute for pintos. We make our borlotti beans the traditional way! Soaked overnight and cooked with a touch of Sicilian sea salt and organic lemon juice, our beans are naturally cooked to perfection. Our Italian varieties of beans and our hands-on cooking process produce a firm and delicious bean that is not starchy, and suitable for any recipe. If you love beans, but don’t have time to prepare them the traditional way, we’re happy to do the work for you.

The Story

We love to work in Italy because our manufacturers are large enough to supply our market, but small enough to still do things the right way, even if it means the involvement of many hands. Our beans are grown on small, organic farms in the Piemonte region of Italy. They are sorted by hand before being soaked for 24 hours. Then they are rinsed with fresh water and cooked. The jars are filled with the cooked beans, water and a bit of salt is added, then the jars are sealed and sterilized. Once the beans are cooled and the jars are wiped down, the labels are applied and the product is packed up to ship.

Became a fan the first time I tried these

What a joy it was to find pre-cooked beans in glass containers. And they’re organic, taste great, and don’t contain any preservatives or other junk.

    So Yummy!

I had never had borlotti beans before, but they are creamy and delicious. I tried the borlotti bean soup recipe from the Jovial recipes section, and it is soooooo good! I added a little kiss of cayenne pepper to the recipe, paired it with some crusty Italian bread, and my family ate the whole pot of soup lickety-split. I will definitely be keeping borlotti beans in my pantry from now on.

I have not tried these before...They were delicious...Similar to Brown/Pinto beans in the USA...Warmed them just a bit & added a sm bit of cheese...Highly recommend...
